In December 2025, RMAICT marked an important milestone in its smart farming journey through a strategic collaboration with Jabatan Pertanian Negeri Selangor.
The partnership focuses on exploring how digital innovation can support agricultural operations, particularly through controlled-environment mushroom cultivation. It brings together agricultural knowledge and technology expertise to explore more connected, efficient and sustainable farming practices.
During the engagement, RMAICT also introduced its Smart AI Cube concept, demonstrating how artificial intelligence (AI), automation and data-driven technologies could support practical agricultural applications.
A strategic collaboration grounded in agricultural needs
Agriculture faces ongoing challenges in managing growing conditions, maintaining operational consistency and making informed decisions with limited resources. Addressing these challenges requires solutions that are developed around real farming environments rather than technology alone.
Through a strategic cooperation note (Nota Kerjasama Strategik), RMAICT and Jabatan Pertanian Negeri Selangor established a collaboration focused on controlled-environment mushroom cultivation technology.
According to the department's official announcement, the project is planned for development at Pusat Latihan Pertanian Kalumpang, providing a setting for exploring practical applications of agricultural technology.
The initiative represents an opportunity to connect digital innovation with agricultural expertise while building a foundation for future learning and development.
Introducing the Smart AI Cube
During the collaboration session, RMAICT's Managing Director, Joseph Tiong, presented the concept of the Smart AI Cube, a modular approach to supporting connected agricultural environments.

Mushroom cultivation served as the initial demonstration, illustrating how technology could be applied to farming activities where environmental conditions and operational consistency are important. While mushrooms provide a practical starting point, the broader Smart AI Cube concept is intended to support different agricultural requirements through adaptable technology components.
The session also provided an opportunity for participants to explore the concept, exchange perspectives and discuss how digital solutions could address real farming needs.
How connected technology could support farming
Smart farming creates opportunities to improve how agricultural information is collected, interpreted and used in everyday operations. Three technology areas are particularly relevant to the development of more connected farming environments.
Monitoring environmental conditions
Controlled-environment cultivation depends on maintaining suitable growing conditions throughout the production cycle. Environmental monitoring can help agricultural teams better understand factors such as temperature and humidity, providing useful information for managing cultivation activities.
Using data to guide decisions
Collecting agricultural data becomes valuable when it helps farmers understand changing conditions and respond more effectively. By combining relevant information with analytical and AI capabilities, future smart farming solutions could support the identification of patterns, potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
Automating routine activities
Agricultural operations often involve repetitive tasks that require consistency and timely execution. Appropriate automation can help reduce manual intervention in selected processes, allowing agricultural teams to focus more attention on monitoring, planning and operational decisions. Together, these capabilities offer a practical direction for exploring technology-supported agriculture.
Combining agricultural and digital expertise
Successful agricultural innovation depends on collaboration between organizations with complementary capabilities. RMAICT is working closely with FaaS Solutions, whose smart farming expertise complements our focus on digital transformation, data and AI. By combining these areas of knowledge, the collaboration aims to explore solutions that are practical, measurable and adaptable to different agricultural requirements.
Knowledge sharing and technology development are also important parts of this journey, helping connect technical innovation with the needs of farmers, agricultural officers and planners. The objective is to build a stronger foundation for long-term agricultural digital transformation through practical collaboration.

The collaboration was formalized through an official signing ceremony organized by Jabatan Pertanian Negeri Selangor. The department was represented by Tuan Haji Azahar bin Ibrahim, Director of Agriculture for Selangor, while Joseph Tiong Ing Tze represented RMAICT International Sdn Bhd, as identified in the department's official announcement.
The ceremony was witnessed by Tengku Indera Pahlawan Diraja Tengku Dato’ Setia Putra Alhaj bin Tengku Azman Shah Alhaj, reflecting the significance of the occasion. The signing marked an important step toward exploring controlled-environment mushroom cultivation technology and strengthening collaboration between agricultural and technology stakeholders.
The event was also documented through an official announcement by Jabatan Pertanian Negeri Selangor.
From agreement to practical learning
This strategic collaboration marks the beginning of a longer journey toward practical smart farming innovation. With the planned development at Pusat Latihan Pertanian Kalumpang, the initiative provides a direction for exploring how technology can support agricultural operations in controlled environments. As the collaboration progresses, RMAICT looks forward to sharing further developments, practical demonstrations and lessons learned from the field. Our focus remains on connecting digital capabilities with real agricultural needs and supporting a more sustainable future for farming in Malaysia.
